The Vatican provided an update on Pope Francis’ health on Thursday, stating that the 88-year-old pontiff, who is battling pneumonia in both lungs, “slept well” and is currently resting. According to the Vatican, the Pope’s condition has shown slight improvement over the past 24 hours.
Pope Francis, who underwent surgery to remove part of one of his lungs as a young man, has experienced a series of health challenges in recent years. He was admitted to Rome’s Gemelli Hospital on February 14 due to breathing difficulties. This marks the longest hospitalization of his papacy.
A morning bulletin from the Vatican confirmed that the Pope’s condition had improved slightly, with no further significant changes reported. The Holy See had previously stated that the pontiff’s clinical conditions showed modest progress in the preceding 24 hours.
