Kim Kardashian recently disclosed that one of her sons with Kanye West has been diagnosed with vitiligo, a rare skin condition characterized by loss of skin color in patches, according to the Mayo Clinic.
The reality star and business mogul, who has four children, shared that she also deals with a skin-related condition—psoriasis. She has passed this condition on to one of her sons, either Saint, 8, or Psalm, 5.
Unlike vitiligo, which causes discoloration, Kardashian’s psoriasis results from an overactive immune system, leading to patchy, inflamed skin often appearing on the knees, elbows, or scalp. Kardashian, 43, who is also a mother to North, 11, and Chicago, 6, did not experience symptoms of psoriasis until she was an adult.
Kardashian initially doubted her mother, Kris Jenner, who suspected she had psoriasis. However, a visit to a dermatologist who lived in the same building confirmed the diagnosis.
Kardashian’s son joins a list of well-known individuals living with vitiligo, including model Winnie Harlow and the late pop icon Michael Jackson.
