Yuka Kinoshita, a prominent Japanese eating influencer known for her extreme food challenges, has announced her retirement from competitive eating at the age of 40, citing health concerns as the main reason. Kinoshita, who gained fame for eating 100 burgers in one sitting, made her announcement on February 1, after returning from a seven-month hiatus.
“My health has deteriorated over the years,” Kinoshita shared with her 5.2 million followers. “I can eat like a normal person, but I feel fatigued even when I’m not full. I’m afraid I can’t eat as much as I used to.”
The influencer’s decision has sparked an outpouring of support from her fans on social media, many of whom expressed their gratitude for her past content. One follower wrote, “Your health is the most important. Thank you for your previous videos, which have been healing to me.”
Kinoshita first gained attention in 2009 when she appeared on the Japanese reality show The Battle of Big Eaters. She later launched her online channel in 2014, where she became known for her videos featuring massive food consumption, including challenges where she consumed hundreds of burgers or multiple kilograms of steak.
In early 2024, Kinoshita took a brief break from posting videos, revealing in August that she had been recovering from mental health issues.
