At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, Huawei showcased its latest innovations in intelligent healthcare, emphasizing the role of digital intelligence in transforming global healthcare systems. The company hosted a global healthcare industry session titled Digital Intelligence Drives Inclusive Healthcare, where industry experts discussed the integration of digital transformation and AI applications.
AI Integration for Enhanced Healthcare Solutions
In his keynote address, Dr. Peter Zhou, Vice President of Huawei and President of the Data Storage Product Line, highlighted the company’s strategy of “always-on data and value release.” He introduced groundbreaking products such as the multi-modal converged data lake and DCS AI, aimed at advancing the capabilities of AI in healthcare and taking them to new levels.
Wind Li, Huawei’s Vice President and CEO of the Global Public Sector Business Unit, shared that Huawei has supported over 5,600 healthcare institutions in more than 110 countries. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to further accelerating digital and intelligent transformations in healthcare, emphasizing the ongoing integration of AI to drive innovation in healthcare delivery.
Hong-Eng Koh, Chief Scientist of Huawei’s Global Public Sector BU, also addressed the immense potential of AI in the healthcare sector, noting how it could improve diagnostic accuracy, reduce physician workload, and provide more personalized treatment options for patients.
Collaborative Efforts to Drive Healthcare Innovation
Luis Santiago Sánchez Fernández, CTO of the Andalusian Health Service (SAS), presented the organization’s centralized HIS/EMR system, Diraya, which has improved equitable healthcare access for nearly 9 million residents. He also discussed the Andalusian Digital Health 2030 Strategies (ESDA) and the SAS digital program for the next five years. With Huawei’s support, SAS aims to provide more efficient, secure, and human-centered health services.
Tsvetomir Nikolov, IT Director of Acibadem City Clinic in Bulgaria, shared the clinic’s experience with digital transformation. He highlighted the critical role of digital technology in providing comprehensive patient care and noted Acibadem’s collaboration with Huawei to build a smart hospital campus and active-active data centers, significantly enhancing data access and improving HIS/PACS/EMR service performance by tenfold.
Feng Feng, KFBIO Europe’s Sales and Business Development Manager, discussed how AI, powered by deep learning algorithms, can assist doctors in making more accurate pathological diagnoses. KFBIO and Huawei have jointly developed an AI-based digital pathology solution aimed at improving diagnostic precision and efficiency.
