Chennai – A tragic incident unfolded in the city’s Anna Nagar area , where a family of four – a doctor, his wife, and their two sons – were found dead in their home. Police suspect the deaths were a result of suicide, potentially linked to financial distress.
The deceased have been identified as Dr. Balamurugan, a sonologist, his wife Sumathy, an advocate, and their two sons, Jaswant Kumar, a NEET aspirant, and Lingesh Kumar, a Class 11 student. The family members were discovered hanging in separate rooms of their residence.
Dr. Balamurugan, aged 52, was known to operate multiple ultrasound centers across Chennai. Authorities believe he may have been facing significant financial challenges, with reports indicating he was struggling with substantial debt.
The situation came to light when the doctor’s driver arrived at the house in the morning but received no response from inside. Growing concerned, he alerted the police, who later discovered the bodies.
“We suspect they took their own lives due to financial problems. The investigation is ongoing. We have not received a formal complaint from anyone at this time,” a police officer told NDTV.
As of now, it remains unclear whether the family left behind a suicide note or were under pressure from creditors. Investigations into the matter are still underway.
