Fans of veteran actor Xie Shaoguang are in for a treat as the 63-year-old star makes his long-awaited return to television after a 20-year break. However, the actor, who left Mediacorp in 2005 at the age of 43, has a message for viewers who may be surprised by his changed appearance.
In an interview with Shin Min Daily News, Xie candidly acknowledged that many may still remember him in his prime, but he reminded them that growing older is a natural part of life. “I hope viewers can understand the passage of time,” he said.
When asked about his approach to staying healthy, Xie shared some of his personal tips: a balanced diet, regular exercise, meditation, and maintaining a positive, relaxed attitude. “A happy mood and a calm spirit are key,” he added.
Beyond his professional life, Xie described himself as an easygoing individual who enjoys interacting with others. He proudly stated that he’s never met anyone he couldn’t get along with or communicate with.
In his latest drama, Xie takes on the role of Lin Huoyan, a father grappling with a strained relationship with his daughter, portrayed by Chantelle Ng. Ng, who has worked closely with Xie on the show, described him as “straightforward, friendly, and smart.”
Despite his years away from the spotlight, Xie’s return marks a new chapter in his career, one where he’s embracing his age and experience with grace.
